The weather tried to scare us with some heavy rains the whole drive to Jerash, but thankfully cleared up just as we arrived. The wind was something fierce though, and as we walked into the souk (souvenir shops) we were immediately bundled up in traditional scarves by some clever merchants. They had a sale before they could say "alhamdulallah." Thanks to those scarves we weren't blown away by the wind and had a delightful time. How could you not have a great time when there are bagpipes involved?! Did you know that the bagpipes were actually invented by the Arabs? It's true.
After site seeing, we enjoyed a delicious array of Arab mezza (things like hummous, tabooleh, babba ganoush, and other Arabic salads) along with some excellent mashawi which is Arab style BBQ, much like meat kababs.
